This is the agreement between you and me on how Tankovač is used. It is short on purpose. By using the site you agree to it; if anything here does not sit right with you, write to me.

Tankovač is not a company. It is one person's project.

What it is

Tankovač is a calculator of what a car trip costs. It measures the route between the places you choose, multiplies it by the consumption you enter and the fuel price, and can split the result between the passengers. It also shows the prices in the countries along the route and a comparison with other fuels.

The result is an estimate

I calculate as honestly as I can, but the result is indicative:

  • The fuel price is a national weekly average (Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, the European Commission's Weekly Oil Bulletin), not the price at a particular station. The real price may differ, especially on motorways.
  • The consumption is the figure you enter, or a rough estimate by car type. Real consumption depends on speed, load, weather and driving style. The conversion to other fuels is an even rougher estimate.
  • The route comes from a routing provider working on OpenStreetMap data. It may differ from the one you actually drive and knows nothing of closures or traffic. Do not use it for navigation.
  • Vignettes, tolls and parking are not included.

The result is not a receipt — it is not suitable as a basis for travel expense claims, accounting or taxes, where the law sets its own rules of calculation.

Shared links

The whole calculation is in the page address. The Share and Copy text buttons turn it into a short link (tankovac.sk/c/…) that works for 3 months from when it was made; then it is deleted. Whoever gets the link sees everything you entered, places included. You are responsible for whom you send it to. More in Privacy.

What not to do here

  • Do not run automated queries, bulk downloads or scraping against the site, and do not get around the limit on calculations.
  • Do not try to disrupt or overload the server or the services Tankovač uses.

If any of that happens, I may restrict or block access from the address in question.

It is free

Tankovač is free of charge, without an account and without ads. Should that ever change, you will learn it on this page in advance.

Data and licences

The texts, design and code of Tankovač are mine. You may use and share the result of your own calculation freely.

Availability

I try to keep the site running, but I do not guarantee any availability. It is one server and one person. There may be an outage, maintenance or a bug — and when the routing providers do not answer or the daily credits run out, a route cannot be measured for a while. Features may be added, changed or removed.

Liability

Tankovač is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, I am not liable for damage arising from its use, from an inaccurate result or from its unavailability — for instance when a trip costs more than it showed.

This does not exclude liability for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence, nor for harm to health — the law does not allow that. Your rights as a consumer under Slovak law are not affected.

What happens to what you enter is all in Privacy.

Changes

These terms may change — the date at the top changes with them. The version published at the time you use the site applies.

Governing law

Slovak law applies. Disputes that cannot be settled by e-mail belong to the Slovak courts; if you are a consumer, you keep every right the law of the country you live in gives you.
